Seven platforms, and it worked on every one. Rank Any Site read 1,834 pages on 97 websites for this post, and our October 17 test adds Duda to the list. I built it to work on any site, so I went and checked.

Up Front

Yes, it works on your website. Every kind we've tried so far reads fine and gets fixes. That's hand built sites, WordPress, GoHighLevel, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and Duda. What changes from one platform to the next is how the fixes get in. WordPress gets a plugin. A site on Cloudflare gets the edge Worker. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and GoHighLevel get a one line head snippet. A site you built yourself gets a bundle of files. The snippet is the one with a catch, and I'll show you exactly what it is below.

  • 78 sites run Rank Any Site every day. 73 are hand built, 3 are WordPress and 2 are GoHighLevel.
  • 19 more builder sites got a fresh scan on October 22, 2026, with nothing installed. Shopify scored a median 78, Wix 73 and Squarespace 66.
  • Every builder page we read got a schema fix. That's 229 pages and 229 schema blocks.
  • Google runs a JavaScript snippet. Most AI crawlers don't, so AI fixes belong in the page source.
  • Squarespace sites had no llms.txt at all. Wix and Shopify now make one for you.

Every Platform So Far, and How It Installs

The scan doesn't care what built your site. It reads the public pages the way Google does, up to about a dozen of them on a free scan. Then it writes a fix for each page from that page's own words. The platform only decides the install.

The install comes from one rule in the tool. It looks at what your site runs on and where it's hosted, then names the best path first. You can always pick another one.

Green bars are sites that run Rank Any Site every day. Amber bars are fresh scans with nothing installed.

Don't read that chart as a race between platforms. The green bars are sites we built and keep fixed. The amber bars are other people's sites on a normal day. The gap between them is mostly the work, not the builder.

What a JavaScript Snippet Can and Can't Do

Every builder gives you a box for code in the head. Wix calls it custom code. Squarespace calls it code injection. Shopify puts it in theme.liquid. GoHighLevel calls it tracking code. Our snippet goes in that box, one line, and it fixes every page on the site.

Google handles that fine. It crawls your page, then runs the JavaScript in a headless Chrome browser, then indexes what it sees. Google's own docs lay out those three steps. So your titles, descriptions and schema from the snippet reach Google.

AI crawlers are another story. Vercel looked at the big ones in December 2024 and found none of them ran JavaScript. GPTBot and ClaudeBot were both on that list. They read the raw page source and move on. A fix that only exists after a script runs is a fix they never see.

So I tell people straight. The snippet gets you Google. For ChatGPT, Claude and the rest, the facts need to be in the page source. There are three ways to get them there.

  • The WordPress plugin writes every fix into the page before it's sent.
  • The edge Worker rewrites the page on Cloudflare before it reaches the visitor. That needs your domain's DNS on Cloudflare.
  • The files bundle is plain HTML you paste in yourself, plus the AI files you upload.

The AI files are the other half. An llms.txt file sits at the root of your site and tells AI tools who you are in plain text. The format comes from llmstxt.org. On a builder, you usually can't upload a file to your root folder. That's the job the edge Worker does for builder sites, and it's why the tool points you to it.

Hand Built Sites Score Highest

73 of the 78 sites I watch every day are hand built. Most are plain HTML on Netlify or Cloudflare. Rank Any Site has rescanned every one of them at least once a day since October 18, 2026. That's 1,498 pages on the hand built sites alone.

Their median score was 89 at the first scan and 90 now. 37 of the 73 sit at 90 or higher. The best single gain in those four days was 7 points. 45 of them already serve an llms.txt file. Their median mobile PageSpeed score is 98.

Small gains here aren't a weak result. These sites were already in good shape when the dashboards started. The daily rescan is there to catch what breaks. A new page with no description shows up the next morning, not three months later.

Hand built sites install the easy way. You get each page's head block as a file, plus llms.txt, a How To Check Us page, a robots.txt and a sitemap. If your DNS is on Cloudflare, the edge Worker does it all without touching your files.

WordPress Gets the Plugin

WordPress runs PHP on the server. So the plugin puts every fix in the page before it's sent. Google sees it and so does every AI crawler. That makes WordPress one of the best fits there is.

In our October 17 test of 61 business sites, 30 were WordPress. They averaged 76, the highest of any platform in that group. Two WordPress roofing sites then got the fixes run in front of the live site and were scanned again. One went from 69 to 83. The other went from 72 to 87.

Three of the 78 sites I watch every day are WordPress. Their median score is 83. Their median mobile PageSpeed score is 73, the lowest of any platform I watch. That isn't the plugin. It's what the themes load. An SEO plugin can't make a heavy theme light, and I'd rather say that than hide it.

Two client sites switched from an older head tag plugin to Rank Any Site on October 18, 2026. We saved every page's head before the switch and checked it after. The heads matched on every page. That's what a safe switch looks like.

Wix, Squarespace and Shopify on Fresh Scans

Our own sites are mostly hand built. So on October 22, 2026, I ran the free scan on real small business sites on the three big builders. Five Wix sites, seven Squarespace sites and seven Shopify stores. Nothing was installed on any of them. I won't name them, since they never asked to be in a study.

A sixth Wix site gave the scanner almost nothing to read and is left out. It loads its pages with scripts, so the source was nearly empty. That's the same wall most AI crawlers hit on that site.

The other 19 read fine. 229 pages in all. The tool wrote 75 new titles, 89 meta descriptions, 229 schema blocks and 48 image alt texts for them. Every page got schema. None of the 19 had a page that helps people and AI check the business is real.

Shopify

Shopify scored best, a median of 78 across seven stores, from 71 to 90. Most of their open issues were low ones. One store alone needed alt text on 40 images. Every store already served an llms.txt, because Shopify now makes one. The one I opened was written for shopping bots, not about the business. Our llms.txt tells AI who you are, and on Shopify that file needs the edge Worker to sit at your root.

Wix

Wix came in at a median of 73, from 66 to 83. All five had an llms.txt already. Wix's help center says it writes and updates that file on its own. You can edit it from your dashboard, so on Wix you can paste our version right in. The snippet goes in custom code for the rest.

Squarespace

Squarespace scored lowest, a median of 66, from 61 to 77. None of the seven had an llms.txt. Six had no map and five had no phone number the scan could find. Squarespace runs code injection on its Core, Plus and Advanced plans, so check your plan before you start. In our October 17 test, a Squarespace HVAC site went from 70 to 84 once the fixes ran through the edge Worker.

GoHighLevel and Duda

Two of the sites I watch every day run on GoHighLevel. Their median score went from 86.5 to 88, and one of them gained 5 points. Both serve an llms.txt. Their median mobile PageSpeed score is 99. The snippet goes in the site's tracking code, and the edge Worker covers the AI side.

Duda showed up in our October 17 test. A roofing site on Duda went from 74 to 82 with the fixes in place. Nothing on the site itself was changed.

Webflow is next on my list. I haven't scanned enough Webflow sites to give you a number, so I won't. When I have one, it'll be in a post of its own.

Does the Platform Matter for SEO?

Less than people think. Every platform I scanned can carry a good title, a real description and clean schema. The sites that score high are the ones somebody keeps fixing. The ones that score low just got left alone.

Where the platform does matter is the page source. If your builder makes it hard to put facts in the source, AI tools see less of you. That's the part to ask about before you pick a builder or switch off one. Can I edit the head? Can I put a file at the root? Can my DNS go through Cloudflare?

If you already have a site, don't move it for SEO. Scan it. The free scan tells you your score, what's missing, and the install that fits your platform. See how it works, the full October test, or the plans when you're ready.

Answers to the Usual Questions

Will Rank Any Site work on my website if I use Wix?

Yes. The scan reads any public Wix site, and the fixes go in through Wix custom code in the head. Wix also writes its own llms.txt, and you can edit that file in your Wix dashboard. Our October 2026 scans of five Wix business sites came back with a median score of 73.

Do I need WordPress to use Rank Any Site?

No. WordPress gets a plugin, but the same fixes ship as an edge Worker, a one line head snippet, or a bundle of files. 73 of the 78 sites we watch every day are hand built, not WordPress.

Can AI tools like ChatGPT see fixes added by a JavaScript snippet?

Mostly no. Google runs JavaScript before it indexes a page, so it sees the snippet's fixes. Most AI crawlers read only the raw page source, so for them the fixes need to be in the source itself, through the plugin, the edge Worker, or files.

What does the free scan cost and what do I get?

The scan is free. You get a score out of 100, the open issues, and a fix for each page written from the page itself, plus the install steps for your platform.

Which website builder scored best for SEO in your scans?

Of the builder sites we scanned fresh, Shopify stores had the highest median at 78, then Wix at 73 and Squarespace at 66. Hand built sites running Rank Any Site every day had a median of 90.
